Kitchen Liberation: Immigrant Home Cooking and Women’s Rights

January 16, 2020 @ 6:30 pm

League of Kitchens

What happens when immigrant women teach strangers their most trusted recipes? The League of Kitchens, an organization that partners with immigrant women who teach cooking classes in their own homes, is on a mission to change how we see home cooking. In this event, Charlotte Druckman, author of Women on Food, joins in conversation with League of Kitchens Founder/CEO Lisa Gross and Mab Abbasgholizadeh, a League of Kitchens instructor and women’s rights activist from Iran. They’ll talk about celebrating women who wield the power of food, how women keep culinary lineages alive and the powerful connections that emerge from sharing kitchen and table.
